John's Seasonal Sour Cocktail with Applejack | John Cusimano

Food & Fun - By on

John shares his apple-flavored twist on a pisco sour cocktail. He created the drink to go with Rach's Twice Baked Overstuffed Dinner Potatoes. Round out the simple, super-tasty meal with this 1-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse

Pro Tip from John: The drink gets it froth from shaken raw egg whites. You can leave them out, if you like. The cocktail won't have the classic frothy mouthfeel, but it will taste the same.

Ingredients
For the Simple Syrup:
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
For the Cocktail:
  • 2 ounces Applejack
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • ¾ ounce Simple Syrup (above)
  • 2 egg whites (optional)
  • 3 dashes Angostora bitters, for garnish
Preparation

For the simple syrup, combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat and stir over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to use.

For the cocktail, combine the Applejack, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg whites (if using) in a cocktail shaker. Shake for 10 seconds to froth the egg whites. Add ice and shake to chill. Strain into a chilled coupe and top with bitters.

Always drink responsibly.

Consuming raw egg may increase your risk of foodborne illness.
